Maine Winter Romp
Attended the Maine Winter Romp Land Rover event (www.winterromp.org) this past weekend. My tenth romp and, although I no longer own rovers, Bruce (Fowler, the creater and perpetual host or this quarter-century-old event) puts up with me and a bunch of my fellow trouble makers from VTXS. Here are a couple of snippets from this great winter wheeling event:
The best veggie burger in VT
Creek House Diner in Bethel. Minutes from Exit 3 off of I89.
Just sooo good. Order the South of the Border (beef) burger, which comes with home-made chipotle sauce, sliced jalapenos, vermont jack cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato on a fresh bun and simply substitute the Creek House’s home-made veggie burger for the beef burger. You can see the fresh peas, carrots and red onions right in the burger. Yum. Oh, and if you’re really feeling daring, get the outrageously tasty sweet potato fries as their purpose in life is to be eaten with the veg burger. For dessert, get one of the Creek House’s maple creamie soft ice cream cones ANY TIME OF YEAR. Real locally produced maple syrup in a custardy ice cream. This is the lunch or dinner of champions, all for about 10 bucks!
Overlanding and family sports
What’s great about overlanding is that you can enjoy driving your overland rig for everyday family activities, like nordic ski racing for instance:

Truck camping Vermont Overland style
Yes, AT’s JK Habitat is the ultimate setup, but what can you do in the meantime and do you really need that much kit to sleep comfortably in your rig? Well, not with a couple of Corbeau Moab racing seats. Check it out:
